Medical Tattooing: Tim Cox

As an artist I see things differently, full of possibilities and potential. I have a unique skill set that allows me to help others to create change. I don’t take away the scars but rather work with a client to artistically define “it” rather than allowing “it” to define them.

For as long as I can remember, my interests have always included helping others to feel safe and whole. Whether as an Eagle Scout, sailing around the world, Firefighter/EMT, a professional artist, or medical tattooist – the interest has always remained the same. When my ex-wife was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, I chose to teach my daughters not to be victims or to let cancer define us, but rather as Mahatma Gandhi said, “Create the change you want to see in the world.”

I created Sacred Line Collective Medical Tattoo Studio for a specific purpose, to help others in their path of healing. I use my artistic skills in such a way as to give individuals confidence and self-esteem in a professional and a supportive way. I specialize in 3-D areola tattoos, Scar Camouflage, Therapeutic Medical Tattooing and High End Custom Tattoos.

If you are going to be a professional working with the skin has scars, burns, traumas etc., you need to have enough knowledge of the way the tissue will respond. This is why I am working on creating a state medical tattoo license with the legislators of the State of Missouri, USA. There are many different types of surgeons so the scars are always in different places. If a cancer survivor has had radiation, chemotherapy, or the breasts have different size and/or shape after the surgery, then the tissue is tighter more fragile and more susceptible to damage. If  we talk about scars, then we approach of the tattoo application procedure will depend on the thickness, color and type of the scar. The pigments can get blurry in some particular areas or skin types; however, that is oftentimes the goal.
