One for all, or your ideal makeup product

Any woman wants to look beautiful in any situation: at work, on a date, when going for a walk, travelling, doing sports…Makeup plays an important role helping to hide or fix flaws while enhancing natural beauty. However, it is not always possible to find enough time or energy, or keep and use loads of tools for one’s cosmetic arsenal. Besides, in some cases having lots of makeup on the face can look inappropriate or even vulgar.

However, for every problem there is a solution. In this case, it is enough just to find one cosmetic product which in a few minutes will make your face look really bright, more expressive and refreshed.

It is no secret that it is much easier to choose cosmetic products for makeup knowing your own color type. According to one of the most popular classifications, makeup artists divide women into four main types: “autumn”, “winter”, “spring” and “summer”. Nevertheless, not all women can relate themselves to one of these categories, because this system was designed primarily for women whose appearance can be called “European type”. Female beauty, however, is multifaceted, and every woman is beautiful in her own way.

We believe that the most objective classification is the one that determines the color type according to three main criteria:

1) Light/Dark

2) Contrast/ Subdued

3) Warm/Cold

These factors determine the choice of shades for makeup as well as facial parts that should be accentuated. The first two points can help to choose the makeup tool, whereas the third one will be useful when picking the right makeup palette to complement one’s complexion.

Light-contrast color type

Characteristic features: fair or platinum hair, light skin, dark eyebrows and eyelashes, bright blue or green eyes.

Typical examples: Sharon Stone, Scarlett Johansson, Cameron Diaz.

Women with this color type can be easily recognized as the dominant criterion is light skin and hair shades that contrast with dark eyebrows and eyelashes.

The ideal cosmetic product in this case must delicately emphasize natural beauty without using lots of colors so it does not look overdone.

In order to do this, one might use lengthening or volumizingblack mascara which will make the eyes look much more expressive and at the same time emphasize their natural contrast and bright tone.

Light-subdued color type

Characteristic features: light brown or golden hair, light skin, light blue, gray or green eyes.

Typical examples: Claudia Schiffer, Gwyneth Paltrow, Taylor Swift.

In addition to fair hair, women with such color type usually have light eyebrows and eyelashes. The task that is set in this case is to make the image more expressive.

It is widely known that eyebrows are a very significant aspect of people’s appearance. By slightly changing their shades and/or shape, it is possible to achieve various results: we can make the face look prettier, more coquettish or serious, a few years younger, and even thinner.

In order to accentuate the eyebrows of this color type, one should use a gray-brownish brow pencil or eye shadows. It is worth remembering “the golden rule” for blondes – eyebrows should only be one or two tones darker than the color of the hair. When shaping the eyebrows, it is recommended to make the outline slightly feathered in order to achieve a very natural result.

Dark-contrast color type

Characteristic features: dark hair, light or slightly dark skin, bright blue, green, brown eyes.

Typical examples: Liv Tyler, Megan Fox, Lucy Liu.

Women of this color type normally have dark eyebrows and eyelashes, which in itself makes the eyes very expressive. For this reason it is recommended to enhance the beauty of the lips and put the emphasis on them while doing makeup. In addition, the image of fatal beauty suits these women like no one else.

It is important to consider that the semi-gloss texture of cosmetic products will not help to achieve the desired effect and simply will be lost in the background of a contrasting appearance. The right solution would bea lipstick with medium or high color saturation. Women with light “porcelain” skin should use cold colors: pink, magenta, wine, whereas the onesthat have yellow undertone in the color of their skin and/or hair should use warm colors: coral, orange, red, tomato.

Dark-subdued color type

Characteristic features: dark hair, dark skin, brown or black eyes.

Typical examples: Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, Penelope Cruz.

Women of this color type have a bright appearance; however, the color palette is quite limited. Therefore, bright accents look harmonious only in the case of full face makeup. If there is no time for it, the best solution would be “express-makeup” with the use of blush which will make the face look refreshed.

The shade of blush should be chosen according tothe skin tone –it can be warm or cold. Then the blush should be applied to the apples of the cheeks, and then to the tip of the nose, chin, eyelids and earlobes by slightly tapping those areas with the brush. It is acceptable if the blush is composed of light-reflecting particles that are finely ground.

When choosing your ideal makeup product, please remember that simplicity is the secret of many renowned masterpieces. In fine art, minimalism allows us to see something more thanwhat was placed by the artist in the painting, whereas accents in makeup help to reveal and highlight the natural beauty of women.
