The non-laser removal of permanent makeup: what is a remover?

The main advantage of permanent makeup – its durability – can play a cruel joke and turn into a disadvantage. If a client has previously applied an unsuccessful pmu, he/she most likely wants to adjust it or to get rid of the pigment completely. However, it is not as easy as one might think.

Earlier, painful and scarring methods such as surgical excision of the pigmented area, infrared coagulation or deep dermabrasion were applied.

Today, there are much less traumatic and more effective ways to get rid of unnecessary pigment – the impact of a laser and a remover. The latter will be discussed in more detail in this article.

What is a remover?

Remover is a chemical preparation that helps to remove pigment from the skin. The procedure has an invasive character and resembles the creation of permanent makeup, but instead of the coloring substance, a neutralizer is introduced into the skin.

The effect of the remover is quite easy to explain. It contains derivatives of metal oxides; its molecules are similar in size to the pigment particles. Having entered into contact, the compounds are mixed and withdrawn from the body by the lymphatic system.

The technique of chemical tattoo removal

The procedure for removing tattooing is performed with the use of the machine. At the first stage the artist disinfects the treated area and applies an anesthetic cream.

The next stage is the remover itself. The container with the chemical removal substance should be shaken well; the product must be checked in regards to a uniform consistency. If it thickens, you can dilute the suspension with sterilized water. With an empty needle or dipped in a remover (depending on the manufacturer’s recommendations), an artist makes punctures along the shaded area of the skin. The depth of insertion of the needle should not be greater than when applying permanent, and the total area of exposure is more than 5 square centimeters. Otherwise, the risk of scarring of the skin during the healing period increases.

The next step: the suspension is applied superficially to the tattooed area. After a few minutes (the exact amount is indicated in the instructions to the chosen remover), it is wiped off with a damp sponge. This step is repeated 2-3 times. At the end of the session, the thin layer of the remover is applied to the treated skin and is not erased.

Preparing for permanent removal

To completely remove permanent makeup, you need to prepare for the procedure in advance. It is recommended to avoid products that can cause swelling and redness of the skin. Three days before the session, it is necessary to refrain from drinking alcohol, and for a day – to exclude fat, spicy and salty food, as well as coffee, from your diet.

The day before the removal of permanent makeup, the client should stop taking medications that may thin the blood.

If you plan to remove the pigment from the lips, it is recommended to take anti-herpes medications three days before the procedure.

Care for the treated area after the procedure of tattoo removal.

After the procedure, the client is given a reminder about the after-procedural care. Failure to follow the rules described below can adversely affect the outcome of the procedure and lead to the formation of scars.

  1. Do not rip and wet the crust that forms after the procedure
  2. After the crust disappears, it is recommended to use restoratives
  3. Active sports activities, visits to the sauna, swimming pool, solarium and beach should be avoided until the treated area is healed
  4. Do not use cosmetic and exfoliating agents in the area of exposure until complete healing
  5. If you develop swelling or redness, you should use an antihistamine

The most popular brands of removers
